Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef or ground lamb
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 small onion finely grated
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • olive oil for frying or brushing

Method
 

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, and egg.
  2. Add chopped parsley, minced garlic, and grated onion; mix gently until just combined.
  3. Sprinkle in oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper; mix gently again.
  4. Shape the mixture into meatballs about the size of golf balls.
  5. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and fry the meatballs until golden brown, about 10 minutes.
  6. Check for doneness with a meat thermometer; internal temperature should be at least 160°F (70°C).
  7. Let the meatballs rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
