Thai Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients
  

Chicken Filling
  • 1 lb ground chicken can substitute with turkey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce use low-sodium if preferred
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tsp ginger minced
  • 1 cup water chestnuts chopped
  • 2 green onions sliced for garnish
Lettuce Wraps
  • 1 head butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce
  • 1 cup cilantro chopped, for garnish
  • 1 cup peanuts chopped, for garnish

Method
 

Prepare the Chicken Filling
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground chicken and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add garlic and ginger, and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in soy sauce, fish sauce, hoisin sauce, lime juice, sesame oil, and chopped water chestnuts.
  4. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until everything is heated through.
Assemble the Wraps
  1. Separate the leaves of butter lettuce and wash them thoroughly.
  2. Spoon the chicken filling into each lettuce leaf.
  3. Top with chopped cilantro and peanuts.
  4. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.
