Ingredients
  

Pasta and Sauce
  • 12 oz ziti pasta or penne
  • 2 cups marinara sauce store-bought or homemade
Cheese Mixture
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese whole milk
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 cup fontina cheese shredded
  • 1 cup asiago cheese shredded
Seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes optional
Topping
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese grated

Method
 

Cook Pasta
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the ziti pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare Cheese Mixture
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, fontina cheese, asiago cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix well until combined.
Combine Ingredients
  1. In a large bowl, mix the cooked ziti pasta with marinara sauce and the cheese mixture until evenly coated.
Bake
  1. Transfer the pasta mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with additional mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
  2. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
Serve
  1. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your homemade Five Cheese Ziti Al Forno!
