Method
Cook the Pasta
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Make the Cheese Sauce
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, whisking constantly.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to whisk until the mixture is smooth and thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses until melted and smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
Combine and Bake
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine the cooked macaroni and cheese sauce, mixing well.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish. In a small bowl, mix the bread crumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the top of the macaroni and cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
