Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted Irish butter (melted)
  • 3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon fine salt (sea salt or Himalayan)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 4 ounces Irish cheddar (shredded)
  • 12 ounces Irish beef broth (like Killian's Irish Red)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted Irish butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder. Whisk until well blended.
  3. Fold in shredded Irish cheddar cheese into the dry mixture.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together Irish beef broth and melted butter. Pour this into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Optionally sprinkle dried parsley on top.
  6. Bake for about 50 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
