Prepare the Oven and Pan
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Mix Ingredients
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until combined.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.
- Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and espresso powder, and mix until just combined.
Bake the Brownies
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Optional Topping
- If using, melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and drizzle over the baked brownies.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
