Ingredients
  

Brownie Base
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon espresso powder
Topping (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips for melting on top

Method
 

Prepare the Oven and Pan
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Mix Ingredients
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until combined.
  2. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.
  3. Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and espresso powder, and mix until just combined.
Bake the Brownies
  1. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Optional Topping
  1. If using, melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and drizzle over the baked brownies.
  2. Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes
