  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Zest and juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1/4 cup turbinado sugar
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry into a rectangle (12"x16").
  3. Cut strips along the sides of the pastry to create braid slices.
  4. In a bowl, blend cream cheese and sugar until smooth; mix in egg, vanilla, salt, lemon zest, and juice.
  5. Spoon filling down the center of the pastry and braid the strips over the filling.
  6. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle turbinado sugar on top.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
