  • 4 honey crisp apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • For the egg wash: 1 egg and 1 tablespoon milk
  • For the drizzle: 3/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium-low heat, melt butter and add diced apples. Cook for about 15 minutes until softened.
  2. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves; simmer for another 8-10 minutes.
  3. Mix water with cornstarch in a small bowl until smooth; add to apple mixture and cook for another minute until slightly thickened.
  4. Thaw puff pastry according to package instructions and cut into four squares.
  5. Assemble turnovers by placing apple filling on one half of each square, folding over to seal edges.
  6. Brush with egg wash; bake at 400°F for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool before drizzling with icing made from whisking milk and powdered sugar.
