  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • Optional: chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and ground cinnamon.
  3. Add melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients; stir until just combined.
  4. In another bowl, combine packed brown sugar and remaining cinnamon. Spread half of the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle half of the cinnamon mixture on top.
  5. Dollop the rest of the batter over the cinnamon layer and sprinkle with the remaining mixture. Gently swirl with a knife.
  6. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown and set in the middle. Let cool slightly before slicing.
